Waterways Of Weybridge

Friendly Facilities

As our potted history of Weybridge indicates, the town arises from the local waterways. They also offer any number of options for enjoying and getting to know the local area.

  • Weybridge Rowing Club provides facilities and support for people of all ages and abilities. Whether you wish to gently get to know the river, or be part of their annual regatta.
  • Weybridge Sailing Club are slightly less formal, love sailing on the river, or just getting together. Regular meet ups in local hostelries, or family friendly days out.
  • Wey and Godalming Navigations is not just Weybridge, although the National Trust are responsible for the area. A valuable place to get to know your local waterways.
  • Surrey Wildlife Trust also cover a notably wider area. They still give a fair amount of time to local waterways, as the linked page on their popular rivers week shows.
  • Local River Cruises start in Walton, although the jetty is just a pleasant walk along the river from Weybridge. Ideal if you would like to take an hour to get to know the river.

We hope you find the suggestions above helpful, the people you meet will also know more about local waterways.

A Pleasant Environment

The clubs and voluntary groups mentioned are valuable, although not the only way to enjoy local rivers and canals. For many Weybridge people, a simple walk is as much of a pleasure.

Towpaths along the Wey Navigation are well maintained and open for walkers all year round. The Thames path can be followed for miles in either direction, including on a bike.

Pubs, restaurants and tea rooms are often not far off the path, or you can walk to the next town. Weybridge to Addlestone, or Walton are just a couple of peaceful miles.

Other footpaths lead you from the beaten track. How about following backwaters cross country to Brooklands museum, or simply to flora and fauna you will be surprised to find.

Weybridge also offers a small ferry across the Thames, to Shepperton. A chance to visit another town without being car bound, or to enjoy the unusual open water swimming.

There is much more to discover. We have been carrying out removals in Surrey for many years, including a few by water, yet still discover new places. We hope you enjoy them too.
