Moving to a Surrey Town
The spirit and foundation of the county.
As a Surrey removals company, we visit many towns in the county, they offer diversity yet share an historical and cultural base. We hope you enjoyed the video on Farnham, a pleasant place and representative of so much in Surrey. Over 1.1 million people living in 640 square miles but still justified in adopting interlocking oak leaves as an emblem.
- Surrey County Council offer a complete list of towns and many villages in the county, with links to the most relevant public sector website.
- Villages Online do cover towns as well but are most useful for their links to individual community websites. If you are setting up home in Surrey, useful places to browse.
- Surrey Archaeological Society have been around for 160 years. Their specialist Guildford library and the site itself are valuable in their field and can offer much that is still relevant to understanding the towns of Surrey.
- Surrey Wildlife Trust are equally well established and apart from giving useful information on the surrounding countryside, play their part on how this merges into the towns.
Town and Country
You are never far from nature.
The fact a wildlife trust are so prominent in a county suggests the environment this offers. Even within the towns there are often open spaces, parks, riverbanks, which are easy to take for granted until you venture to places without them.
Surrey is wealthy, with the highest GDP of any county in England and many large businesses have chosen to base themselves there. The towns are influenced by this, not least the commercial and retail facilities, along with growing housing levels. There are pressures from many sides which could change the nature we see but they are unlikely to succeed.
The landscape at Claremont, the RHS gardens at Wisley, important country houses and museums all have an influence beyond their own boundaries. They help create a feeling which is supported by residents and often reflected in planning decisions. Most people realise that the county holds a dual nature, preserving the spirit of our towns preserves wherever we venture.
If you are moving into, or within Surrey, we hope you enjoy your time in the county and will be happy to help with your move if we can. You can see more information on our Surrey removals service and secure storage centre, or get in touch at any time.
